YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

Risoni is made by Adam Lyons. This policy explains how the current Risoni beta, website and contact forms handle information. Optional features only apply when you choose to use them. The beta is still being tested, including shared kitchens.

Your recipes and cooking

Risoni stores your recipes, meal plans and cooking sessions locally on your device. Imported recipes may include the original source text, import records and photos you selected. These are kept with your collection so you can review where a recipe came from.

If you choose an iCloud kitchen, its shared content uses Apple’s CloudKit service and can be accessed by the people invited to that kitchen. Content you add to a shared kitchen is handled through Apple’s CloudKit service and shared with invited participants. Live updates between separate Apple Accounts are still being tested during beta. Apple handles the iCloud account and service under its own privacy practices.

Adding recipes

When you import from a public website link, Risoni contacts that publisher over HTTPS to retrieve the recipe. The publisher receives an ordinary web request and handles it under its own privacy practices. Safari capture happens when you initiate it.

You choose the photos or files used for an import. Text recognition uses Apple’s Vision framework. Risoni’s recipe detail view does not automatically fetch remote recipe photos. Imported source material and selected images may remain in your saved collection and in any backups you export.

Optional Apple features and Mac connections

On iPhone, exporting to Reminders asks for full Reminders access. Risoni reads lists and items to help avoid duplicates and writes the items you select, together with recipe-source information. This is a one-way export, not two-way synchronization. You can review or revoke this permission in your device settings.

Siri uses Apple services. We do not promise that every voice request is processed entirely on your device. The current beta does not offer an active generative-AI recipe helper.

On Mac, you may choose to start an authenticated local MCP connection for a compatible external client. It runs on demand on your computer, and write actions require separate permission. Information accessed by a client is subject to that client’s own privacy practices. This connection is optional.

Visiting the website

The landing page contains no signup form, advertising scripts or analytics scripts. Its code does not set cookies or use browser storage. The website and its assets are hosted using OpenAI Sites infrastructure, including Cloudflare. Hosting providers receive the network requests needed to deliver the site, which can include your IP address and browser request details. Their service logs and processing are separate from the records saved by Risoni’s forms.

Feedback and privacy requests

When you submit beta feedback, the form stores your chosen category, summary and details, plus any app or macOS version you enter. It also records a random receipt number, submission time, anti-spam cookie hash and review status. A name or email address is not required for beta feedback.

The privacy request form stores your email address, request type and message, plus any previous feedback receipt you provide. It also records a new receipt number, submission time, anti-spam cookie hash and review status. Your email is used to respond to your request.

Both forms use an essential anti-spam cookie restricted to the form’s site. It is Secure, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict, and expires after 24 hours unless renewed when the form loads. A one-way hash is stored with submitted records. The form application does not store the raw cookie, IP address or User-Agent string in its submission database. Hosting providers may separately process request information.

Submissions are stored privately using Cloudflare D1 through OpenAI Sites. Adam reviews them to respond to privacy requests, investigate bugs and improve Risoni. Reviewed feedback summaries and receipt numbers may be placed in the project’s private GitHub issue tracker. Submissions are not displayed in a public list. Please do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request.

Diagnostics

The current Risoni beta has no added third-party analytics or MetricKit collection service. Apple, TestFlight, hosting providers and any external services you choose to use may process their own diagnostics or service information under their own policies.

Keeping and removing information

There is currently no fixed automatic deletion schedule for saved recipe and import records, beta feedback or privacy requests. Archiving a recipe is reversible and is not permanent deletion. Exported backups, shared content and copies held by other services may remain separate from the copy on your device.

The beta does not yet have a verified, comprehensive process for deleting every copy of all app data. Privacy requests are reviewed manually; submitting a request does not automatically disclose or delete information. We will consider what can be located and removed and respond using the email you provide.

Questions or requests

Use the privacy request form to ask a question or request access to or deletion of information: Privacy request form

If your request concerns earlier feedback, include its receipt number if you have it. Only provide information needed to explain the request. We may need clarification before we can identify the relevant record or act on it.

Changes
